TCCI Manufacturing in Decatur will host the kickoff of the fifth annual "Makers on the Move" bus tour, which begins on Manufacturing Day and will visit more than 30 locations across Illinois.
DECATUR, Ill. — A Decatur manufacturing company will serve as the opening stop on a statewide tour designed to showcase careers and innovation in Illinois manufacturing.
TCCI Manufacturing will host the kickoff of the fifth annual "Makers on the Move" bus tour, which begins on Friday, Oct. 2, nationally recognized as Manufacturing Day. The tour is organized by the Illinois Manufacturing Association and the Illinois Manufacturing Excellence Center.
Organizers say TCCI earned its place on the tour because of the company's commitment to innovation and sustainability. During the kickoff event, a ribbon-cutting will be held for the company's Climatic Center for Innovation and Research, described by organizers as one of the first and most advanced public testing facilities of its kind in the country.
The "Makers on the Move" bus will travel to more than 30 locations statewide from Oct. 2 through Oct. 9. The tour will visit manufacturing facilities, educational institutions, and community centers in an effort to highlight diverse and rewarding careers in manufacturing.
Additional local stops on the tour include Plastipak and Inprentus in Champaign, Triptych Brewing in Savoy, and the University of Illinois Springfield.
More information about the tour, including a full list of stops, is available from the Illinois Manufacturing Association.
