Motorcycle Shooters Kill Woman, Wound 2 Teens in Back of the Yards

Chicago police say two people riding a motorcycle opened fire more than 30 times on a parked car in the Back of the Yards neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, killing one woman and badly injuring two teenagers.

The shooting happened at 3:30 p.m. in the 1700 block of West 50th Street. An 18-year-old man and 16-year-old boy were in a car with a woman, 26, when a motorcycle drove up alongside them. Both occupants of the motorcycle fired shots at them.

After the car crashed into a parked vehicle, the two wounded teens fled north on Wood Street before collapsing near 49th Street.

Detectives recovered 31 shell casings. No one is in custody.

Victim Pronounced Dead

The woman was shot in the back and was pronounced dead at 4:01 p.m. at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Police have not released her name.

Teens In Critical and Serious Condition

The 16-year-old was shot in his left arm and leg and was in critical condition. The 18-year-old was shot in his right hip and was in serious condition. Both were treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center.

No Suspects In Custody

Police have not identified the shooters or the motorcycle they were riding. Detectives continue to investigate.

Chicago police said the incident is under active investigation.
