A 13-year-old Joliet boy remains in stable but critical condition after being shot in the shoulder inside a home on the 400-block of Market Street Monday. Police charged another 13-year-old with reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the shooting.

The Shooting

Joliet police officers responded to the home just before 5 p.m. Monday, according to ABC7 Chicago. When they arrived, officers found the 13-year-old victim with a gunshot wound to his left shoulder.

The Joliet Fire Department transported the boy in critical condition to Saint Joseph Medical Center. He was later airlifted to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, police said.

"The juvenile victim remains in stable but critical condition following surgery," according to a release from the Joliet Police Department.

Investigators identified one of the male juveniles who was present inside the residence when the firearm was discharged. With the assistance of the Will County State's Attorney's Office Juvenile Division, detectives charged that boy with reckless discharge of a firearm, according to 1340 WJOL.

The 13-year-old suspect was arrested, booked, and transported to the Will County River Valley Justice Center.
