25-Year-Old Motorcyclist Dies In Fatal Crash At Rockford Intersection

A fatal crash Saturday at an intersection in Rockford claimed the life of a 25-year-old man. The crash involved a car and a motorcycle and shut down traffic at Auburn Street and Harlem Boulevard.

Rockford Police Department posted an update around 6:45 p.m. on May 16 that a two-vehicle crash had shut down traffic in both directions. Officers said a man suffered serious injuries. The department closed the area to the public.

By 10 p.m. police shared an update that the 25-year-old motorcyclist had died from his injuries. The intersection reopened around 11:30 p.m. No further details have been shared at this time.

The Rockford Police Department did not release the names of the driver or the motorcycle rider. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

WIFR reported on the crash using information from police social media posts. The station shared video footage from the scene prior to the fatal update.
