Free DIY Day Block Party Opens At Eurma C. Hayes Center Saturday

A free community arts event is coming to Carbondale this weekend.

Carbondale will host a community arts event this Saturday at the Eurma C. Hayes Center. The event is free and open to all ages. Organizers say the event will feature screen printing workshops, sewing workshops, small group instrument lessons, live music, zine making, community art projects, and free food.

The event is designed to give people a chance to learn new skills, create art, and connect with neighbors in the community.

The DIY Day Block Party runs from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday. The Eurma C. Hayes Center is located at 420 E. Willow Street in Carbondale.

According to the event page, the program is funded by Artspace Southern Illinois' Southern Arts Fund and partially supported by grants from the Illinois Arts Council and private donors.

Y'all Rock Carbondale is hosting the event. The organization brings arts and culture to Carbondale through various community programs and events.
