A 19-year-old Decatur man pleaded guilty Friday to aggravated robbery in the March armed theft of an $18,800 Rolex watch from a victim outside a downtown tobacco shop.

Jarrion A. Jarrett entered the plea during a court appearance on May 29, according to WCIA. He pleaded guilty to the Class 1 felony charge of aggravated robbery indicating being armed with a firearm.

As part of the plea agreement, a more serious Class X felony charge of armed robbery without a firearm was dropped.

The Robbery

The case stems from a robbery that took place at T'bacco Shack at 343 West Grand Avenue in Decatur on March 13.

According to a sworn statement from Decatur Police, a 28-year-old male victim was walking toward the shop when two males surrounded him with a third waiting nearby.

The victim said the suspects pulled out black handguns with extended magazines.

"[The victim] advised the Black males stated something similar to 'If you do not give me the watch, I'll shoot you,'" part of the sworn statement read. "[The victim] advised he handed over his Rolex Oyster Perpetual watch to one of the Black males…[he] advised that he paid approximately $18,800 for the watch."

After the victim handed over the watch, the suspects ran to 1215 Edward Street and went inside a home there.

Police later surrounded the residence and ordered occupants outside. Jarrett was the only person to emerge.

Evidence

Police found the Rolex watch inside a tennis shoe in the house. They also recovered a Nike jacket that surveillance video showed Jarrett wearing during the robbery, according to the police statement.

What's Next

Jarrett's sentencing is scheduled for June 29 at 10:30 a.m., according to WCIA. No arrests have been announced regarding the two other suspects who were present at the robbery.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Criminal Investigations Division at 217-424-2734 or Macon County Crime Stoppers at 217-423-8477.
