Second suspect charged in shooting on Howard Street

Evanston police have charged a 19-year-old resident with two felony counts of aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon and one felony count of mob action in connection with a shooting that occurred on Howard Street in April.

Cajmere T. Lemond, 19, of the 1700 block of Monroe Street, was arrested on May 14. Police recovered two loaded firearms from his backpack during the arrest.

An investigation revealed that one of the guns was reported stolen out of Ohio.

Shooting Details

On April 21, police responded to reports of gunshots in the 700 block of Howard Street around 6:06 p.m. Officers found evidence of gunfire inside a business as well as a victim with non-life-threatening injuries.

The victim was transported to a local hospital.

Court Appearance

Lemond will remain in custody until his next scheduled court appearance on June 11.
