Vote for Peoria's All-Time Greatest Boys Basketball Players

Peoria residents can now vote for who they consider the all-time greatest boys basketball player from the city.

The USA TODAY Network has launched a voting campaign asking Peoria residents to select from a list of 10 standout high school basketball players who defined the city's sports culture.

The list includes athletes who went on to collegiate and professional success before moving on to even greater heights.

Here are the stars of the hardwood. These are our selections for the boys basketball players who defined Peoria. The 10 players were all standout players at the high school level before moving on to even greater heights at the collegiate and professional levels.

The list includes Doug Altenberger from Richwoods, David Booth from Manual, A.J. Guyton from Peoria High, and Shaun Livingston from Peoria High.

Other selections include Sergio McClain from Manual, Howard Nathan from Manual, Chris Reynolds from Peoria High, Mike Robinson Jr. from Richwoods, Chris Williams from Richwoods, and Frank Williams from Manual.

The USA TODAY Network has also saved a spot for readers to submit write-in candidates they feel were overlooked.

The list highlights players who achieved state championships, conference recognition, and professional success.

Shaun Livingston became Illinois Mr. Basketball and a McDonald's All-American before being drafted fourth overall to the Los Angeles Clippers.

A.J. Guyton was named Big Ten Conference Player of the Year at Indiana and was selected 32nd overall by the Chicago Bulls.

Mike Robinson Jr. left Richwoods as the all-time leading scorer in Peoria with 2,944 career points.

Chris Williams became the first Mid-State 9 Conference player to be named all-conference three times.

The voting campaign celebrates the roots of American sports culture by spotlighting high school athletes who shaped and helped define their communities.

We even saved a spot for you to submit a write-in candidate that we may have overlooked or that you feel strongly about.

The full list of 10 players includes their high school graduation years, collegiate achievements, and professional careers.

Adam Duvall is the Journal Star sports reporter who compiled the list.

The campaign asks residents to tell them which high school basketball star is the best all time.

The list is available at the PJ Star website for the vote.
